Tourist visas are issued to foreign nationals who enter into Argentina with the sole purpose of rest and recreation. For any other purpose, the corresponding type of visa must be requested.
The estimated processing time for visa applications is 21 days from the day of the consular interview. Requests made less than 21 days in advance of the travel date will not be accepted. This Embassy returns the passport to the holder after the consular interview is completed and does not keep it during the processing of the application.
- REQUIREMENTS:
1. Complete application form with two 4x4 photographs, front, white background. DO NOT OMIT ANY OF THE FIELDS IN THE FORM.
2. Valid passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from the day you plan to enter Argentina. It must have at least one completely blank page.
3. Proof of economic capability: by credit card, property titles, bank account summary for the last 3 months or any other verifiable means. The financial capacity of the inviter cannot replace that of the visa applicant.
a) Owners of companies must present the corresponding commercial registration.
b) Employees must present proof of employment, indicating position in the company, salary, years of service, vacation days and reference person.
4. Stay in Argentina.
a) Hotel reservations under the name of the applicant. All days of your stay in Argentina must be covered.
b) Letter of invitation in case the applicant stays at the homes of relatives, friends or acquaintances.
5. Round-trip flight itinerary.
6. If the traveler is a minor, authorization from both parents to process the visa.
- INVITATION LETTER:
The invitation letter can be done in two ways:
a) In paper format. The inviter’s signature must be certified by Public Notary (Escribano Público) and legalized by the Association of Notaries (Colegio Público de Escribanos). In such a case, the visa application may be processed with a scanned copy, but the visa will not be issued until the hard copy has arrived at this Embassy.
b) Through the on-line platform Trámites a Distancia (TAD), in the link below. This modality is more expeditious and saves the costs of certifications and shipping by postal mail.

Tutorial on invitation letters in paper format and via TAD:
ALWAYS INCLUDE IN THE INVITATION LETTER THE COMPLETE PERSONAL INFORMATION OF THE APPLICANT AND CONTACT DETAILS OF BOTH THE INVITER AND THE VISA APPLICANT.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
a) After the personal interview, the consular officer may request, if deemed necessary, submitting additional documentation.
b) The documentation must be submitted in Spanish, English, Portuguese or French.
c) The visa applicant must personally attend the Embassy to be interviewed by a consular officer. An appointment for the consular interview will only be given when the applicant has all the necessary documentation.
d) All travelers are advised to make only hotel and air reservations and not to make payments or purchase tickets prior to obtaining their visa.
Maximum period of stay: 3 months (extendable before the National Directorate of Migration, Dirección Nacional de Migraciones)
Fee: USD 150 (this is an application fee and must be paid regardless of whether the visa is issued or not).
